Today we are honored to announce that Joyful Noise will be releasing a limited edition Cassette Box Set of all 10 full-length albums from of Montreal - spanning from 1997's "Cherry Peel" to 2010's "False Priest".
Ever since their inception 14 years ago, of Montreal have provided a consistent stream of artistically ground-breaking yet remarkably accessible records. Few modern bands have demonstrated such a keen ability to evolve alongside artistic relevancy. From the folky lo-fi debut "Cherry Peel", to the breakthrough "Sunlandic Twins" to the instant party classic "Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?"- of Montreal is, in our humble opinion, one of the most important bands making music today.
The Box Set is available for $75 for the first week of pre-order. On September 19 the price goes up to $100. Orders ship on October 18.
This September we will see the 10-year anniversary of their extraordinary second album Record In Red (which, according to Pitchfork, "ranks among the best albums released by Secretly Canadian"). In honor of the occasion Joyful Noise is reissuing all four of Marmoset's full-length albums on vinyl (including, for the first time ever on LP, 1999's Today It's You and 2009's Tea Tornado).

August 3, 2011Joyful Noise Recordings is very pleased to announce the release of SWAPS! Spouting an unstable breed of homemade experimentalism, SWAPS features Ed Rodriguez and John Dieterich of Deerhoof, Ches Smith of Secret Chiefs 3, and Steve Touchton of XBXRX.
Limited to just 438 hand-numbered 10" records on mint green vinyl, SWAPS is a dark, asymmetrical fever-dream of vibraphones and feedback. The album surges and spins in every direction, while remaining hypnotically engaging throughout.
The s/t SWAPS endeavor consists of two pieces of music: "Pair-Bonds", the through composed A-Side of the record, and "Aether Defects", the B-Side culled from a particularly ferocious improvised session in Oakland. The erratic rhythms, tonality and structure of these pieces will please fans of far left-field experiments and truly adventurous works of art.

June 29, 2011We at Joyful Noise are very happy to be working with Bloomington, Indiana-based indie trio Sleeping Bag!
The music of Sleeping Bag is an addictive amalgamation of simple melodies, deadpan delivery, jaunts of balls-out rocking, and minimalist tact. These are songs that, for as streamlined and basic as they seem, gain value with each repeated listen. Simplicity is their asset, and my god they use it well.
Sleeping Bag began as Dave Segedy's solo drum project (then called "Whoa Bro Awesome"). Segedy started flirting with melody and was joined by Lewis Rogers on guitar and David Woodruff (from label-mates The Delicious) on bass, two front-men singers in their own right. Dave Segedy remains the group's songwriter and primary vocalist. Yes, the drummer writes and sings all the songs, imagine that!
The band's self-titled debut album is released August 9th on CD, blue vinyl, black vinyl, and sleeping bag. Yes, we are releasing the album in the format of a sleeping bag - screen-printed by the band, and packaged with a digital download code.

DMA is David "Moose" Adamson. Pure and simple. With DMA, Moose is now free to get as weird, creepy, and sweet as he pleases, in a lone wolf kind of way. Somewhat of a return to form, DMA explores the more meditative and fucked-up side of the Jookabox sound.
Today DMA's first release hits the public. Drem Beb is limited to just 200, hand-numbered copies, pressed on a black-tint cassettes and comes with MP3 & FLAC. You can also download the whole album for a measly $6.

New DMA Video, Indy Release Show, & Final Jookabox Show!
June 20, 2011The soon to be infamous DMA (aka David "Moose" Adamson from Jookabox) has just released a new video for his single Riding Holiday, directed, shot, and edited by Andy "Peecan" Young. The track is part of the limited edition release Drem Beb (which is limited to just 200 copies, exclusively on the cassette format).
DMA will be celebrating the release of "Drem Beb" with a show this Friday in Indianapolis at the Earth House. If you are in the area you're not going to want to miss this one, because this will also be the FINAL JOOKABOX SHOW EVER. Ever. See you there.

Dinosaur Jr. reissue "Bug" on cassette via Joyful Noise!
June 6, 2011We at Joyful Noise are incredibly honored to announce the reissue of Dinosaur Jr's classic 1988 album Bug on cassette. Slated for release on June 21, the cassette reissue coincides with the band's 15-date US/European tour in which "Bug" will be performed live in its entirety.
Originally released on cassette in 1988 via the legendary SST label, this is the first ever reissue of a Dinosaur Jr. album on its original cassette format. Hell - as far as we can tell, this is the first ever cassette reissue of any album originally released on the format.
Available in extremely limited quantities, the "Bug" cassette is limited only 250 hand-numbered copies, on high-quality purple tapes, with 8 panel original artwork.
