The June installment of our 2014 Flexi Disc Series
comes from our local Indianapolis heros Margot & the Nuclear So and So's.
Richard Edwards & co. originally blew up with their 2006 debut "The Dust of Retreat". But we started really noticing them around the time of their major label followup in 2008, where they exhibited some very ballsy behavior. In case you don't know the story, after disagreements with Epic Records on the content of the album, Margot opted to release two versions of the album at the same time: the album they wanted ("Animal!") and the album the label wanted ("Not Animal!"), which was a move that gave us mad respect for these guys. They've since been releasing amazing albums on their self-run label Mariel Recording Company. We've been friends with Margot for a long while, and it's a real pleasure to work with them on this flexi!
For our flexi series, Margot recorded the brand new track, Viv. Stepping outside their trademark "chamber pop" sound, Viv sounds like the best kind of bedroom pop... intimate, simple, and playful. The track is only available on the fleeting analog format of Flexi Disc in quantities of just 1000.
