'muted colors' is the debut album from Ben Sloan, drummer and visual artist who has performed and recorded with Why?, Beth Orton, Moses Sumney and Serengeti.

A record that encapsulates moments and journeys from over nearly a decade of life.

"Each of the ten tracks act as a brief vignette; colorful, sensational worlds to indulge, but just enough." Ben says.

"These scrap-book collages betray a deeper emotional core - a personal exploration of confusion, external sharing of an internal shuffle, internet culture, family relationships and the thoughts felt but not expressed. Still the deeply personal themes are hidden below the surface, left to be uncovered and recontextualized by the listener."

'muted colors' is the eighth release off the Joyful Noise Recordings 2022 Gray Area Cassette Series that features 10 artists from JNR's extended family.
