ANNOUNCING: the deluxe reissue of Jad Fair and Daniel Johnston's classic album It's Spooky.
Some of you might have caught wind of this, as we were working on this album behind the scenes when Daniel Johnston passed away back in September. Because of that tragic news, we decided to postpone the release and flesh out this reissue with new art, new liner notes, and expanded audio.
The album has been Restored and Remastered by Kramer, who was a frequent collaborator with both Daniel and Jad (in fact - Kramer recorded and released Daniel's classic album 1990 on his label Shimmy Disc the very same year It's Spooky was originally released). This reissue is limited to a one-time pressing of 1500 copies on 2xLP "Casper White" vinyl. Includes bonus track, album closer "Ashes on the Ground", and a bonus flexi-disc of the unreleased Daniel Johnston classic "I Live My Broken Dreams" (i.e. the song Daniel always referred to as "a song I sang on MTV"). Artwork features extensive liner notes from Everett True, Jeff Feuerzeig (The Devil & Daniel Johnston), Jad Fair, and Kramer.
It's Spooky was originally released in 1989 on Jad Fair's label ("Fifty Skidillion Watts Records"), and reissued on CD by our friends at Jagjaguwar in 2001 (back when they were just BABIES! I mean, this was Jag's 33rd release!). We're honored for JNR to be a part of this album's history. Daniel Johnston was such a huge inspiration to us, and it feels really special to help canonize this classic collaboration.
Limited Edition "Casper White" 2xLP Vinyl, limited to a one-time pressing of 1500 in deluxe gatefold artwork.
Includes 32 songs including bonus track "Ashes On The Ground". Each copy also includes Bonus Flexi-Disc of previously unreleased Daniel Johnston song, "I Live My Broken Dreams". PRE-ORDER HERE!
