This Saturday, CJ Boyd, Mark Dippel and Benny Sanders hit the stage at Joyful Noise's Murphy Building space!
CJ Boyd's most recent album, Precariat, was released in 2014. Live, Boyd has been immersing his audiences in an ocean of sound using stand-up bass and bass guitar loops as well as vocals for the past 8 years. Improv as well a variety of songs from his career are used to entrance audiences all over. Recently he was touring on the same bill as Sister Grotto, traversing the East Coast. In August he will be touring the west with his band Curve Choir and he has an upcoming tour where he will be playing bass for Chicharra. He says that if he was ice cream, the type of M&M he would want used to top him is black walnut. The wall of ambient sounds he creates is sure to engulf your being in a unique live experience.
Supporting Boyd is Indianapolis's own Mark Dippel. When not fulfilling mail orders at Joyful Noise HQ, Mark uses his guitar to save immigrants from hoards of pigeons. His music can be heard here.
Fountain Square legend Benny Sanders is also performing. Benny's a fan of Australian accents and says that if he was stranded on an island and could only eat one type of food he would top his Dutch baby pancakes with scallions and chorizo. Focusing more on visual art recently, his solo shows have been rare as of late. For this show he's going to be playing the songs he's written that he can remember, but there's a good chance you'll hear "My Favorite Tree", which is about a tree in Fountain Square. Thanks to his new guitar that will be , you have no need to worry about potentially perilous porcupine invasions at this show! His music is available for streaming and download on Music Family Tree.
Today we release the debut album from Saqqara Mastabas! This is a new project from Matthew Friedburger (The Fiery Furnaces) and Bob D'Amico (Sebadoh and The Fiery Furnaces). We are excited to bring to you the album "Libras," which is presently available on LP, CD, and digital.
This is an experimental and fun record filled with manic energy, weirdo mythology, and inspired sound landscapes. Now available in the JNR store. Give it a listen below:
We are very excited to announce this very special release: a brand new composition by Thurston Moore, created in collaboration with the Bernie Sanders campaign. Titled "Feel It In Your Guts," the track is a twelve-string acoustic piece laced with excerpts from Bernie Sanders' speeches, touching on topics like the worship of money, economic inequality, social justice, and the need for basic human rights for all people. (Arranged and mixed by our buddy Mike Bridavsky.)
The release is limited to 1000 hand-numbered copies on square, white flexi-disc vinyl, with screenprinted cover art by David Kloc.
You can get yours today here: joyfulnoi.se/thurstonandbernie

Why do you have to jump through these hoops to order?
You see, we wanted this to be a benefit release, but Joyful Noise is a company... and that means Bernie won't accept a check from us. True story. So, we can't merely sell you the release and pass the donation to Bernie. Instead, you have to follow the ordering instructions and make a direct contribution to the campaign, prove you've donated by uploading a screenshot, and then proceed to checkout and claim your free limited edition flexi-disc.
We are so excited to bring you the latest from Big Business! The Seattle duos 5th album (their first on JNR) "Command Your Weather" will be out July 8th. It's available on CD, LP, digital and a snazzy gold cassette. Pre-Orders available from the store now.
"Command Your Weather" is about the struggle for power in a noisy dreamworld. Jared and Coady flail their way through an abyss of delightfully overwhelming sound. To better prepare yourself for the journey here's a sample track:

Do you want to know more about how the music industry works? Do you want to get firsthand experience working with a well-known indie band behind the scenes? Are you interested in what it takes to make a band successful and sustain a career playing rock and roll?
DO YOU LIVE IN OR NEAR NYC?

Happy Wednesday everyone,
We here at JNR are very excited to announce a new album from Chris Schlarb's Psychic Temple, called The Psychic Temple Plays Music For Airports.
The Psychic Temple is a artistic collaboration/cult/musical supergroup led by Schlarb, including notable collaborators/devotees such as Mike Watt, Phillip Glenn, Paul Masvidal, and many others.
The album is a re-imagination of the first movement from Brian Eno's quintessential ambient album, Music For Airports. Side 2 includes an original piece by Chris Schlarb, titled "Music For Bus Stops."
Check out a behind-the-scenes trailer for the album courtesy of Tiny Mix Tapes
Pre-order the limited edition LP HERE !
The rap duo Yoni Wolf and Serengeti's collaboration (Yoni & Geti), has been dropping some pretty sweet singles from soon to be released album Testarossa. So far they've released "Lunchline" and "Madeline" BOTH of which are available for streaming on Joyful Noise Recordings https://soundcloud.com/joyful-noise-recordings.
I get chills with how vividly they describe the foundation of a relationship crumbling. And if you feel that too, I would highly recommend preordering Testarossa at http://www.joyfulnoiserecordings.com/collections/yoni-geti.
It's bitter, it's sweet, it breaks my heart, and I love it. The singles from Testarossa by Yoni & Geti gets a Naters score of 9/10 - will preorder/would recommend...
I can't wait for it's release May 6th.

Happy Friday friends,
We here at the Joyful HQ are getting ready to head home for the day and enjoy a nice, peaceful weekend with our dogs/cats/netflix addictions. And we're gonna need all the beauty sleep we can get because next weekend - if you'll pardon the incredibly tired mid-2000's turn of phrase - is going to be OFF THE CHAIN *air horn noise*
Next Friday and Saturday, the 25th and 26th, is the 4th annual Fountain Square music Festival. And we have the privilege of having some of our favorite artists on this year's roster, including Surfer Blood, Kishi Bashi, Sound of Ceres, Yonatan Gat, Reptar, Busman's Holiday, and more!
Passes are still available HERE. Get 'em while they're hot.
See ya there!
